ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--RF Controls LLC, creators of the standards-based Intelligent Tracking and Control System (ITCS®), today announced that ITCS is certified fully compliant with European CE and RoHS regulations and is ready to be deployed in Europe.
ITCS provides real time, 3D location of items that have been tagged with inexpensive, standards compliant UHF RFID tags. An ITCS implementation comprises one or more Signal Acquisition and Source Location (SASL®) “smart antennas”, connected by Ethernet to an ITCS Location Processor (an edge server). The ITCS Location Processor collates tag IDs and location data, provides data access and a rich toolbox for system management through an ISO 24730-1 standard compliant API. The complete range of ITCS-A-1xx SASLs is compliant with both CE and RoHS regulations.
To meet the stringent CE compliance requirements, SASL is certified compliant with EN 302 208-2, EN 302 208-1, EN 301 489-3, EN 301 489-1, EN55022, EN55024, EN 60950-1:2005, which collectively deal with RF emissions, electromagnetic susceptibility, and a suite of electrical safety standards.
RoHS is concerned with the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (2008). These Regulations implement EU Directive 2002/95 which bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. The RoHS Directive and regulations came into force on July 1, 2006. Manufacturers need to understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive to ensure that their products, and their components, comply.
RF Controls has worked diligently towards RoHS compliance, and is pleased to be able to announce this achievement which demonstrates the company’s responsible approach towards the environment and regulatory compliance.
In combination, these EU standards are among the most stringent in the world.
ITCS’ sophisticated and innovative Bidirectional Electronically Steerable Phased Array (BESPA™) antenna technology achieves exceptionally long operating range, and has resolved operational and deployment issues (such as spurious or extraneous reads which are a challenge with conventional antenna systems), through the creation and implementation of sophisticated, patent pending, signal processing algorithms. The unique combination of features embodied in ITCS has transformed the market’s expectations of the capabilities of passive UHF RFID systems, and enables end-users to address latent business process issues and improve process efficiency in an unprecedented way.
RF Controls’ ITCS products are sold to end users through systems integration partners.
