Learning.com Creates Complete Internet Safety Curriculum to Meet E-Rate Requirements

EasyTech Online Safety Provides Interactive, Research-Based Curriculum To Make It Easy for Teachers to Integrate Digital Lessons, Discussions and Activities into Their Teaching

PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Learning.com announces the introduction of a comprehensive Internet safety curriculum, EasyTech Online Safety, that exceeds the E-Rate requirements for Internet safety teaching and reporting. The curriculum, based on research, is designed for K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

EasyTech Online Safety provides teachers with an effective curriculum to cover challenging subjects at grade-appropriate levels, including:

  • Cyber bullying
  • Proper online behavior
  • Keeping personal information safe
  • Safe texting
  • Inappropriate content
  • Avoiding online scams and gambling
  • File sharing
  • and more

EasyTech Online Safety was developed in collaboration with national Internet safety education expert Dr. Patricia Agatston, co-author of Cyber Bullying: Bullying in the Digital Age. The curriculum approaches the topics from a positive angle, rather than fear-based, and provides teachers with interactive lessons, discussions, and activities. Teachers can also use the journaling feature to dialog with students and help them reflect on what they are learning. EasyTech Online Safety also includes parent guides in both English and Spanish to support the school-to-home connection.

“Online safety is such an important topic and should be taken seriously by both parents and our education system,” says Dr. Agatston. “Technology is critical to our kids’ futures and we need to arm them with the guidelines and tools they need to use technology wisely.”

The curriculum is ideal for districts looking for an effective online safety curriculum that includes tracking and reports that show compliance with E-Rate curriculum requirements.

“Our district was struggling to determine how we were going to meet the online safety instruction requirements for E-Rate. I was extremely excited to discover that EasyTech, a solution we've used for years to integrate technology literacy into core content, now includes online safety curricula and completely meets the mandates set by E-Rate,” says Dr. Ellen J. Pitrelli, Director of Technology, Longwood Central School District.

Pitrelli also notes that the reporting features enable her district to see all the levels of detail to know that every child has learned these critical lessons.
