NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ALM’s Law Technology News today announced the selection of three veteran industry leaders as recipients of the inaugural LTN Lifetime Achievement Awards: John Alber of Bryan Cave; Thomas Burke of World Software Corp.; and M. Thomas Collins, founder of Juris. These individuals, plus other law firm, law department, consultant winners also announced today, as well as vendor winners of the seventh annual LTN Awards, will be honored at LegalTech New York on February 1.

John Alber is Bryan Cave’s technology partner and leads its award-winning Client Technology Group. Under his leadership, the group has developed innovative, Web-based, client programs such as TradeZone, an international trade decision support system and InsiderZone, an insider trading compliance training product. Alber has written and spoken widely on legal technology subjects and received numerous technology awards, both in the legal field and in information technology generally. He was named LTN’s first ‘Champion of Technology’ in 2004, and recognized as one of the ‘Top 25 CTOs’ by Infoworld in 2007.
Thomas Burke is chair and CEO of World Software Corp, developer of the Worldox Document Management System for law firms and other organizations. The company’s software is used by nearly 3500 law firms across 37 countries. Worldox has won numerous product awards, including the Gold 2009 LTN Award for Document Management. The Burke family founded the company in 1988 and he served as its president until 2009. Under his leadership, World Software was named to the Inc. 500 list twice and to Deloitte & Touche’s Fast 50 and Fast 500 lists twice.
M. Thomas Collins founded Juris, Inc. in 1988 and served as its CEO. By the time Juris was purchased by LexisNexis in 2007, the company had become the leading provider of financial and business information systems for midsized law firms. Throughout his career, he has been a frequent speaker, author and blogger on management topics as well as technology issues and the legal profession.
Collins is a founder of LEDES, the consortium organized to implement standards for the electronic exchange of data within the legal community; founding chair of the National Association of Legal Vendors; and an advisor to several legal-related associations.
