The Institute for the Development of Enhanced Perceptual Awareness Signs Award-Winning Indian Director Prakash Varma

VENICE, Calif.--()--Indian director Prakash Varma joined The Institute for the Development of Enhanced Perceptual Awareness (The Institute), the multi-disciplined production company owned by partners Scott Gardenhour and Michael Bay.

Varma began his career as an AD for some of the most well-known directors in the Indian feature film industry. Today as a leading commercial director in India, Varma has shot and produced a wide range of compelling and internationally recognized work.

“Varma’s precise eye for detail and his strong story-telling ability make for captivating and memorable work which transcends cultural and international barriers. Varma has the capability to create a wonderful cinematic experience while also catering to the needs and perspectives of different brands,” says Gardenhour.

Varma has garnered many awards including the Silver Cannes Lion and a London International Award in 2008, for his Neo Sports ‘Gas’ spot, as well as various Phoenix awards for the Voltas, Nakshatra and Kamasutra spots (2006-07). Varma was awarded the Grand Prix for Film Craft at The Abbys in 2008, along with several other awards for spots: Neo Sports, Bajaj, Lee, Vodafone, Airtel, and Greenply.

One of his most recent projects was a two-minute spot commissioned by India’s Ministry of Tourism for the prestigious ‘Incredible India’ Campaign. It follows a young tourist on his journey through the gorgeous and endlessly changing landscapes and peoples of India.

Varma is eager to transition into working in the US market, and happy to be doing it with The Institute.
