Community Health Systems, Inc. Announces the Acquisition of Akron General Medical Center’s Joint Venture Interest in Massillon, Ohio Facility

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--()--Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH) today announced that a subsidiary of the Company has acquired from Akron General Medical Center all of its joint venture minority interest in Massillon Community Health System, LLC, which indirectly owns and operates Affinity Medical Center, a 268-bed acute-care hospital in Massillon, Ohio. Affinity Medical Center is now wholly-owned by the Company’s subsidiary. The closing was effective June 1, 2009.
