CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The McCormick Foundation has teamed up with WGN Radio, WGN-TV, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Tribune and CW4 Indiana to launch Neighbors in Need 2008, a disaster relief campaign to raise money for victims of the recent Midwest floods. The heavy storms that ripped through the Midwest have caused unprecedented flooding in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Wisconsin.
The Neighbors in Need 2008 campaign will support nonprofit agencies providing short-term and long-term aid to flood victims in the five impacted states. The McCormick Foundation will match the first $1 million raised at 50 cents on the dollar. All administrative costs will be paid by the Foundation, allowing all funds raised and all matching dollars to be granted directly to local organizations helping flood victims and their families.

The McCormick Foundation has conducted disaster relief campaigns for 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and, most recently, for the southern California wildfires. The Foundation has a structure in place to ensure quick relief, which is vital after disaster situations. The McCormick Foundation’s prior flood relief campaign in 1993 raised more than $1 million from thousands of donors nationwide. Funds raised assisted agencies like the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and America’s Second Harvest.
