NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC) recently announced the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award program for 2008. The event was held Wednesday, May 28th at the Waldorf-Astoria in NYC. The Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award program and event is an annual celebration of Asian American entrepreneurship. It has long been their objective to promote and strengthen the voice and role of Asian Americans, and to highlight their achievements and contributions. Recipients of this award represent a microcosm of the best of Asian American business owners and professionals with a pool of diverse and multi-talented individuals engaged in a wide range of business interests. Throughout the last 5 years of the program, diversity among award recipients grows. Honorees hailed from throughout the United States and represented a variety of Asian American ethnic backgrounds, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Thai and Vietnamese.
Congressman Anthony Weiner gave the keynote address, celebrating the success of Asian Americans in business, and encouraging Asian Americans to continue to aspire to make a bigger impact in American businesses.
Highlighting the Outstanding 50, the Pinnacle Award is given to the person who has reached the top of his professional career in a large corporation, is recognized as a leader in his field and is serving in a top position within the company The 2008 Pinnacle Award was presented to Michael Chen, CEO of GE Commercial Finance - Media, Communications, & Entertainment.
