SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vistage Chair Larry Cassidy of Orange County, Calif., has become the first Chair in the company’s 50-year history to facilitate 1,000 Vistage meetings. Vistage is a CEO peer group organization, which focuses on executive performance. A Vistage Chair leads the peer group in monthly meetings and one-to-one sessions to help CEOs with company growth and direction.
Cassidy, a former CEO himself, has been involved with Vistage since 1986 and for more than 21 years has counseled 300 business leaders. His impact on the Orange County business community has been significant, as he has helped companies grow from start-ups to multi-million dollar corporations.
“Many professional and personal breakthroughs can be credited to Larry Cassidy and the impact he’s had on the business community in Southern California,” said Rafael Pastor, Vistage chairman of the board and CEO.
Facilitating 1,000 Vistage meetings, each of which lasts an average of eight hours, is equivalent to spending one entire year in a boardroom hashing out business topics with chief executives. Additionally, as a Vistage Chair, Cassidy meets with each of his Vistage members for one hour a month, amounting to a total of 9,000 hours in which Cassidy has helped CEOs grow their businesses.
So what do these impressive numbers mean? They mean that in total, Larry Cassidy’s face time with Vistage members equals two and a half years of working 24 hours a day.
“Over the past 21 years, my greatest challenge has been to get out of my members’ way and let them own their issue and decide who and what they want to be,” he said.
During the years Cassidy has been recognized with numerous awards for his Chairing abilities including being awarded with Vistage’s highest honor, the Don Cope Memorial Award presented annually to the top Vistage Chair that year. Prior to Vistage, Cassidy, a Phi Beta Kappa and former Mensa Society member, was the force behind the “Mikey Likes It” television commercial for Life Cereal and development of Quaker 100% Natural Cereal while he worked at Quaker Oats.
Cassidy is a leader of five Vistage groups in the Orange County area.
