OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oakland International Airport has won a top award from the Airports Council International (ACI), recognizing the airport’s ParkSmart campaign, developed by e-agency, as the best airport marketing campaign for 2007. The award was announced in Washington D.C. Aug. 21.
E-agency and the airport have won many creative awards together during the 15 years they have worked together. Dave Dunn, president of the Oakland-based interactive marketing agency, said this one is special, because it is considered one of the toughest to win. “There are so many elements involved,” Dunn said, “- branding, strategy, creativity and multi-channel execution. This is a big win for the airport.”
The ParkSmart campaign included e-agency’s development of a new brand for OAK’s on-airport parking services, and involved integrating nine marketing elements over the course of the 90-day program. A new symbol was developed for all on-airport parking lots, prices for economy parking were cut and more frequent shuttle bus trips were added. The changes were promoted with a $10-off coupon, delivered via a secure tracking system from the airport’s Web site (www.OaklandIAirport.com). Promotion included the use of radio ads, direct mail, Web and e-mail ads, public relations and signage. E-agency developed the brand strategy and creative materials, from the sign designs to the Web coupons and marketing e-mails.
Seventy-three North American airports submitted nearly 300 entries for the awards.
Key airport staff involved in the campaign included Cyndy Johnson, Rosemary Barnes, Joanne Holloway, Chris Minner and Steve Grossman, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland.
The e-agency team for the campaign included Jannah Lyon, Ben Monroe and Dunn.
Airports Council International - North America (www.aci-na.org) represents governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada. More than 300 aviation businesses are also members.
