NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Brassy British siren Amy Winehouse announces new U.S. tour dates to meet the insatiable fan appetite for her raved about live show. She returns to the states after a closely followed string of sold-out European shows in August for two festivals – the V Festival in Washington, DC, (August 4), and the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, IL on August 5.
Amy’s much anticipated end-of-summer tour kicks off at NYC’s Summer Stage on September 12, with a show the following day – September 13 – in Upper Darby, PA. Additional dates include Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, TX (September 15), with stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Minnesota, and Chicago, with more dates to be announced. (see list below)
Amy is gaining the kind of superstar traction in the states with the smash single, “Rehab,” from her acclaimed Gold-and-surging album “BACK TO BLACK” (Universal Republic), usually reserved for much more established stars. The swanky “Rehab” rocketed from #48 all the way to #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart, a 160% sales-gainer in online and portable downloads, keeping her sizzling new album hovering in the Top Ten of Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, and making it the summer staple and Amy one of the most in-demand new artists in recent years. BACK TO BLACK has now sold more than 2.5 million albums worldwide, making it one of the most critically and commercially successful debuts of 2007.
Much buzzed about cover stories on Amy in the current issue of Rolling Stone Magazine and the July issue of Spin Magazine find the charismatic singer/songwriter emerging as the oft quotable star. Amy was honored last month in her native London, (she snagged the coveted Brit Award earlier in the year for Best Female Solo Artist, hitting #1 with “BACK TO BLACK”) winning in the Best Jazz Crossover album category at the Ronnie Scotts Jazz Awards and winning another Ivor Novello award (she won her first in 2003) for “Rehab” in the Best Contemporary song category. Just this week she won two MOJO Awards, being named Mojo's 'Woman of 2006' and won the first ever 'Song of the Year' award for "Rehab."
Included on the September trek will be very special guest Paolo Nutini. Nutini – whose acclaimed debut album, “THESE STREETS,” was released earlier this year- has a number of high profile live appearances at some of this summer’s biggest festivals, including Lollapalooza 2007 (set for August 3-5 at Chicago’s Grant Park) and the monumental Live Earth spectacular at Wembley Stadium on July 7th. On Tuesday July 3rd Nutini will make his second in-concert appearance on NBC’s Today Show, performing his new single “Last Request,” currently TOP 10 at AAA Radio and his second consecutive Top 10 single at the format. Paolo is also making waves at VH1 where he was named one of its “You Oughta Know” artists and is currently #6 on their weekly countdown. The 20-year-old tunesmith has been all over the TV in recent months, with performances on a number of high-profile programs, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with Conan O’Brien, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and two visits to his fellow Scotsman Craig Ferguson’s nightly CBS talker Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
