BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (ASAP) today announced the winners of its 2007 ASAP Alliance Excellence Awards at its annual Alliance Summit, held this year at San Francisco’s Westin Airport Hotel February 7-9. Receiving this year’s global awards are the Northwest Airlines/KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Alliance, the BT HP Alliance, P&G Pharmaceuticals and Royal Philips Electronics.
The Awards ceremony will be held tonight at the Summit’s Alliance Excellence Awards Dinner. Award recipients exemplify the imbedding of alliance best practices, innovation and impact in the way they form and manage alliances, often developing cutting-edge tools to advance their alliance success. Awards will be presented in two categories: Alliance Program Excellence and Individual Alliance Excellence.
Alliance Program Excellence Awards
Awards for Alliance Program Excellence will be presented to P&G Pharmaceuticals and Royal Philips Electronics to acknowledge their systematic, world-class approaches to forming and managing broad portfolios of major alliances. Each company has realized significant contributions to growth and profitability through its alliances.
P&G Pharmaceuticals has driven double-digit sales growth for five consecutive years based on its portfolio of 28 different alliances. It is strategically focused on three therapeutic areas where the patients plays an active role in managing their health; musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal and women’s health, and actively pursues alliances in these areas. In February of 2006, P&G Pharmaceuticals made the strategic choice to source all of its new products via alliances within a network of biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
Royal Philips, whose approximately 35 alliances focus on the Technology, Medical and Consumer Goods sectors, also uses partnerships to drive innovation in products and services.
Endo Pharmaceuticals will receive an Honorable Mention in this category for its alliance programs. Endo is being recognized for changing the traditional model of the pharmaceutical industry to one that is heavily reliant on effective alliance management practices at all points along the value chain.
Individual Alliance Excellence Awards
Two alliance winners, the Northwest/KLM Alliance and the BT HP Alliance, will be presented with awards in this category, based on the excellence and impact of their specific alliance relationships. In both alliances, CEO guidance and top-to-bottom collaboration combine to identify and capture extraordinary value for shareholders.
The Northwest/KLM global alliance with a transatlantic joint venture has grown over more than a decade from being the first airline alliance to drive dramatic value for both companies. Over that time the relationship has adapted to changes in the market and experiences of the partners. In less than three years, the BT HP Alliance has created significant value for both parent companies, generating approximately $1 billion in bookings through October 31, 2006.
An Honorable Mention for a specific alliance relationship will be presented to the U.S. Bank-Elcom International alliance. This alliance is noteworthy due to the commitment of both companies to alliance excellence and the mentorship each provides to the network of buying partners created by the alliance.
