Dakota Johnson Selected as 2006 Miss Golden Globe at 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards to Be Telecast Live on NBC on Jan. 16; First Daughter of a Former Miss Golden Globe Ever to Be Chosen

HOLLYWOOD--()--Nov. 16, 2005--The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today announced Dakota Johnson as its selection as Miss Golden Globe for the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards to be telecast live on NBC on Monday, January 16, 2006. HFPA President Philip Berk made the announcement at a morning press conference. Traditionally, Miss Golden Globe, who assists in the Golden Globes ceremony, is the daughter of a well-known celebrity.

Dakota Johnson, age 16, is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. She is the first daughter of a former Miss Golden Globe to ever be selected. She is also the first Miss Golden Globe to have two Golden Globe-winning parents. A five-time Golden Globe nominee, Melanie Griffith received the Golden Globe as Best Actress (comedy or musical) for "Working Girl." Don Johnson received the Golden Globe as Best Actor in a Television Series (drama) for "Miami Vice."

"We are delighted to have Dakota Johnson uphold the family tradition and help us celebrate the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards," said Berk at the announcement. "The Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Board of Directors was unanimous in the decision to select this enchanting second-generation performer."

Dakota Johnson currently resides in Southern California.

Previous Miss Golden Globe honorees include Laura Dern (daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern), Joely Fisher (daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher), Melanie Griffith (daughter of Tippi Hedren) and last year's honoree Kathryn Eastwood (daughter of Clint Eastwood).

Nominations for The 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13 at the Beverly Hilton. The 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel with a live telecast airing on NBC at 8 PM (EST) and produced by dick clark productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Allen Shapiro and Barry Adelman are executive producers. Chris Donovan is director. Al Schwartz is consulting producer. Ken Shapiro is producer. Ron Weed is co-producer.
