Skinsational Skin and Body Spa Partners with Dr. Mark Mofid to Offer MediSpa Services at New Spa Location; MediSpa Trend Adds to Value of Spa as a Wellness Center

CARLSBAD, Calif.--()--Oct. 18, 2005--Skinsational Skin and Body Spa announced today that it is partnering with Mark Mofid, M.D., to offer MediSpa services at its new expanded location in Carlsbad, California.

Prior to opening the new location, spa director and founder of Skinsational Joyce Carboni conducted a survey of the spa's most frequent 100 clients regarding their interest in MediSpa services. She received an overwhelmingly positive response, with people most interested in eradicating pigmentation problems and unwanted facial hair. According to Carboni, a licensed esthetician herself, the new services expand the wellness mission of the day spa.

"With MediSpa service offerings we are extending the skincare services we offer to include the exciting and dramatic changes that are taking place in the plastic surgery field. Under the direction of Dr. Mofid and a registered nurse, Elisabeth Herrera, Skinsational will offer minimally invasive procedures such as Botox, Restylane, and Captique injectables, laser hair removal and spider vein reduction, in a private area of the day spa. In addition, Dr. Mofid will offer on-site consultation on surgical procedures such as breast reduction and augmentation, face lifts and brow lifts. Dr. Mofid, a plastic surgeon who received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, also has a full service plastic surgery practice in La Jolla. Approximately half of his current practice focuses on reconstructive surgery for patients who have suffered from skin cancer, breast cancer and massive facial trauma. This is his first venture into the MediSpa field.

As reported by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in its annual statistics report released in March 2005, minimally invasive procedures increased seven percent in 2004 to nearly 7.5 million procedures performed while surgical cosmetic procedures actually decreased two percent from 2003 to 2004 (the most recent year for which statistics are available). New procedures and technology combined with an aging baby-boomer population have increased the public's interest in less risky cosmetic procedures.
