Karpas Properties is gearing up for its annual golf tournament on October 29, 2005, at Wild Cat Golf Club, 12000 Almeda Road. This year's annual golf tournament benefits Baylor College of Medicine's new neuropathy facility. Houston's Dave Ward will be the master of ceremonies, and Marvin Zindler is receiving the Humanitarian Angel Award. The fee to play includes range balls, cart, lunch, dinner, bag valet service, and goody bag.
For its annual golf tournament, Karpas Properties likes to support under-funded groups and to bring more attention to them. Millions of people around the world have one or more forms of neuropathy, which results from damage to the nerves of the arms and legs. There are 200 known causes but for nearly 30 percent of patients, the cause remains unidentified. "Many patients receive uncoordinated, ineffective and fragmented care involving a variety of medical specialists," according to the Baylor College of Medicine's website. The college is dedicated to creating a state-of-the-art neuropathy center that includes research, patient care and education efforts. Yadollah Harati, M.D., professor of neurology/neuromuscular will direct it.
Registration for the golf tournament is at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded at the dinner, which includes Longest Drive with our Very Special Driver (TBA), Closest to the Hole, Most Balls Lost, Low Score and High Score. There will be a silent auction all day and a live auction in the late afternoon. Participant options start at $150.
