|Expansion Grand Opening Slated for October 1, 2004|
San Gabriel Valley shoppers will experience 250,000 square feet of new specialty shops, restaurants, and entertainment options at Westfield Shoppingtown Santa Anita's expansion grand opening slated for October 1, 2004. The property currently features a mix of 151 specialty stores, four major department stores, and a food court with 11 eateries. The $113 million redevelopment will add a 16-screen AMC Theater complex, 30 new specialty stores including a Sport Chalet, Borders Books Music Cafe, and the first Los Angeles County location of Dave & Buster's. A new 12,000 square-foot food court and numerous new sit-down restaurants including Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill, Bacchus Wine & Champagne Bistro and McGrath's Fish House will provide guests with new dining experiences.
Combining the best of traditional fashion retailing with innovative elements such as alfresco dining, leading edge entertainment and superior customer service amenities is described by Westfield's Senior Executive Vice President of Development, David Doll, as the new "Hy-Style" development concept. "At Santa Anita, we have taken an incredible shopping center and added new elements and energy to create a fun family experience. This truly will be San Gabriel Valley's destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment."
Three major architecturally designed spaces comprise the 250,000 square foot expansion area: the outdoor restaurant plaza, a skylight-atrium that bathes the new Food Court in natural sunlight, and a new retail wing. The outdoor plaza, finished in pre-cast colored concrete flooring with striking pop-out storefront & restaurant designs brings life, energy and new outdoor dining experiences to the center. A dramatic two-story high skylight-atrium ceiling will top the nearly 12,000 square foot Food Court seating area that is enclosed by two gently curving banks of delectable food court eateries on opposite sides of the seating area. A new retail district links the atrium space to the original center and a new entry court for the existing Robinsons-May department store.
