In making the announcement, Robert W. Werth, managing partner, stated, "We are pleased to begin our 95th anniversary celebration by announcing the opening of an Akron office. Our firm has a number of clients in the area and this office will enable us to better serve those clients. We are particularly excited about adding to our firm Phil Lloyd, Bruce Hunsicker, Jay Porter, Bret Treier, Tom Crookes and John Solomon, all formerly partners in the fine Akron firm of Brouse McDowell LPA. We believe that by combining our significant depth of legal talent in Ohio with these six outstanding Akron attorneys we will be in a position to provide high quality legal services in virtually all areas of practice."
Mr. Werth added, "Our firm always has been very civic oriented and we intend to be very active in, and supportive of, the Akron community. We cannot expect the community to be good to us without being good to the community."
Mr. Werth also announced that Dan Balmert, the managing partner of the firm's Cleveland office and a long-time resident of Bath Township, will become the managing partner of the Akron office. Mr. Balmert has been with the firm for 27 years and is listed among the best litigators in the country by The Best Lawyers in America. Vorys, Sater intends to add other attorneys to the Akron office by moving some of its existing attorneys to Akron and/or by hiring additional attorneys from the Akron area.
Speaking on behalf of the attorneys joining Vorys, Sater's new Akron office, Mr. Lloyd said, "While it was a difficult decision to leave Brouse McDowell, since all six of us spent our entire careers there and have the utmost respect for that firm and its lawyers, we just couldn't pass up the opportunity of being able to help open the new Vorys office in Akron. Vorys brings tremendous depth of talent which will assist us in our practice and we are excited about the vision and culture that the firm will bring to our new office."
The Vorys, Sater Akron office will be in the First National Tower at 106 South Main Street (telephone #330-245-1153).
