|3Com's CommWorks Has Been Using Sarvega XPE Appliances to Improve Customer Service and Lower Total Cost of Ownership Since 2001|
Sarvega(TM), Inc., the leading provider of intelligent XML appliances, today announced that CommWorks Corporation, a 3Com Company (NASDAQ: COMS), has enjoyed reliable, non-stop operation from its Sarvega XPE(TM) appliance-based XML infrastructure since the solution went into production in 2001. CommWorks is using Sarvega's XPE appliances to accelerate XML processing in its global customer support applications infrastructure, enabling a high level of customer responsiveness at a much lower total cost of ownership. CommWorks was the first Global 1000 organization to deploy an XML appliance for a mission-critical, global application and is the longest deployment in the industry.
CommWorks provides high-end, Internet Protocol (IP)-based multi-service networks to the world's largest service providers.
Sarvega's XPE suite of intelligent XML appliances help enterprises maximize their IT investment by transparently decoupling complex XML processing tasks, such as XSL transformation and XML/Web Services Security, from the application infrastructure and offloading them to the network infrastructure. The decoupling of XML processing as provided by Sarvega XPE appliances delivers significant financial and architectural benefits, including lower operational and capital costs. The XPE product family is built on Sarvega's patent pending XML EventStream(TM) Operating System (XESOS(TM)) technology. XESOS, which addresses all facets of XML processing from XSL transformation to XML/web services security, is the most flexible and comprehensive core technology platform in the market.
"Customer service is a corporate priority for us. Since we initially deployed the Sarvega XPE infrastructure in 2001, we have significantly improved response times while reducing costs. The XPE appliances are very reliable, having delivered non-stop performance since their deployment in our production infrastructure," said Chandru Bolaki, Director, CommWorks.
"The non-stop operation of CommWorks' XPE infrastructure strongly validates the value proposition of decoupling XML processing from the application infrastructure in general and, more specifically, the reliability of the XPE appliances and the XESOS platform for global corporations' mission-critical applications," said Sunil Gaitonde, Sarvega co-founder, president, and CEO. "We are very proud of this track record as well as the excellent ROI that CommWorks has realized from the XPE deployment."
In addition to the XPE appliances, Sarvega also provides enterprises XESOS Studio(TM), the first stand-alone platform that centralizes configuration, deployment, and management of large-scale, distributed deployments of Sarvega XPE appliances. XESOS Studio was designed to support distributed XPE deployments such as that of CommWorks. The XPE appliances can also be managed by Command Line Interface (CLI), Web Interface, and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
Other Global 1000 organizations using Sarvega XPE Switches include Fujitsu, as well as health care provider Mt. Sinai Hospital Systems in Chicago.
