Enterprise Directory Manager 5.0 Adds New Features to Aelita's Secure Management Platform for Active Directory; New Release Adds Features, is Designed for Windows Server 2003

Microsoft TechED 2003
DALLAS--()--June 2, 2003--Aelita Enterprise Directory Manager(TM) (EDM), the only secure management platform for Active Directory, has been enhanced in release 5.0 to offer new administrative capabilities and extended support for new features in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory. The new product version was unveiled today at Microsoft Tech-Ed 2003.

Enterprise Directory Manager is different from client-side "plug-in" administrative tools because it assures compliance with an organization's policies related to Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange. EDM also maintains the integrity of Active Directory, even in the largest implementations, by requiring no schema extensions and by keeping Access Control Lists (ACLs) small and efficient. With EDM, permissions are granted dynamically, which ensures accuracy even as users come in and out of managed views. EDM also improves the user provisioning and de-provisioning process, increasing productivity and security.

"EDM 5.0 is an administrator's dream," commented Kevin Gibson, system administrator for the Georgia Department of Transportation. "You can define rules and roles, administer Active Directory, manage Group Policy, and look at objects natively in Active Directory - all through a single console. And the new Web interface makes it easy to manage a user's computer from anywhere."

New features in Enterprise Directory Manager 5.0 include:

-- Group Policy management, including modeling and "what-if" analysis, resultant set of policies (RSoP) for any user or computer, and role-based, granular delegation of Group Policy administration.

-- A new, highly customizable Web interface for use by administrators or by users for self-administration.

-- Rules-based, automated management of distribution lists and security groups for streamlined administration and improved end-user productivity.

-- Role-based management of computer resources for delegated administration of network shares, services, printers and local users and groups.

Enterprise Directory Manager 5.0 extends Aelita's support of Windows Server 2003 with the ability to administer application directory partitions, inetOrgPerson objects and new Group Policy settings in Windows Server 2003. EDM also allows administrators to examine last logon statistics.

Aelita's full product line supports Windows Server 2003, meaning that customers can count on Aelita to help them deploy, administer, and secure Active Directory on either Windows Server 2003 or 2000.
