|McDonald's Returns as Title Sponsor of Fiesta Broadway Event; New Sponsors Also On-Board|
Fiesta Broadway XIV will cross into mainstream America when it becomes the focus of a one-hour NBC4 special, "Fiesta Broadway: Music for the Soul," airing Saturday, May 3, 2003, from 7 to 8 p.m.
This NBC4-produced television show will capture the colorful and energetic sounds of Latino music featured at Fiesta Broadway, a 36-block event, taking place in Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, April 27, 2003 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fiesta Broadway is the premier kick-off celebration for Cinco de Mayo in Southern California and features top Latino performers appearing simultaneously on four separate stages.
In addition, NBC4's sister station KWHY (Canal 22) will air its 7th annual special, "La Fiesta Broadway," on April 27, 2003 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. (with a pre-show from 6 to 7 p.m.). This is the second collaborative production effort between NBC4 and a sister Telemundo station on television specials featuring a community event for broadcast in English and in Spanish.
All Access Entertainment (AAE) and the City of Los Angeles are the hosts of Fiesta Broadway XIV. As part of the day's festivities, Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn will return to Fiesta Broadway to officially present the 2003 Fiesta Queen on the McDonald's stage, at a special 3 p.m. ceremony. The 2003 Grand Marshals will be honored at The Home Depot stage, co-sponsored by NBC4 and KWHY (Canal 22), also at 3 p.m.
Fast food giant McDonald's is returning to Fiesta Broadway as Title Sponsor for the fourth year in a row. McDonald's finds itself in excellent company with Fiesta Presenting Sponsor Albertsons, along with The Home Depot, AARP and the U.S. Air Force. New sponsors on-board are Kohl's Department Store, JCPenney and Big Lots!
For the first time ever, JCPenney will be hosting a fashion show with American clothing designer, Perry Ellis, at the 4th and Spring Street Superstage. Big Lots! will be launching their new line of International Foods, and Kohl's, who dedicates its charity efforts to improving health and educational opportunities for children, will be presenting the "Los Ninos" Playpark block filled with games and activities for children of all ages. Also for 2003, Fiesta Broadway is hosting its 1st-ever Fiesta Broadway Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 26, 2003.
Giving back to the community is an important Fiesta Broadway tradition, which supports a number of charitable organizations. For 2003 these include the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the National Transplantation Center, the Historic Core Business Improvement District and the Los Angeles Scholarship Program for Inner City Education.
Fiesta Broadway is the premier annual Cinco de Mayo kick-off celebration of Southern California, drawing over half a million people to 36 blocks of downtown Los Angeles since 1990.
