The program kicked off last week when children visited the local Books-A-Million store in Lakeland to pick up their summer reading checklist.
On Friday, May 24th, Carl Hiaasen made a personal appearance at the Lakeland Books-A-Million location to speak and promote the 2013 Summer Reading Program. The event drew an impressive crowd with more than 400 people in attendance.
