TYSONS CORNER, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cardinal Bank (NASDAQ: CFNL) announced today that the Cardinal Bank Community Fund has awarded $1,000 to Miriam’s House. For more than three decades, the Northwest DC kitchen has been a neighborhood sanctuary that provides healthy meals and high-quality social services to more than 3,500 chronically homeless individuals each year. Founded by a collaboration of local business and church leaders, a typical day at Miriam’s Kitchen will serve close to 200 guests who arrive at the dining room to enjoy meals made with fresh ingredients donated by local farmer’s markets and grocery stores.
Arriving at 5:30 AM, Cardinal President F. Kevin Reynolds joined Cardinal Trust & Investments Portfolio Analyst Stacey Shaw, a regular volunteer at Miriam’s Kitchen, to help cook and serve breakfast to the Kitchen’s guests that morning. Shaw, who has volunteered at Miriam’s Kitchen for over 18 months, was certified as a sous chef, and now prepares breakfast meals, manages the serving line and helps coordinate volunteer service schedules. Reynolds and Shaw presented the check to Miriam’s Kitchen Chief Development and Communications Officer Sara Gibson, Chairman of the Board of Directors Nicole Levine, and Assistant Director, Kitchen Operations Chef Emily Hagel, in between their volunteer duties.
“We were honored to support the crucial work of Miriam’s House with both our grant and our efforts to assist in preparing breakfast this morning,” said Kevin Reynolds, President, Cardinal Bank. “Serving nutritious meals is so important, especially when serious physical and mental health issues are a concern for many of their guests. It is rewarding to know that our community grant investment will help make a difference in their lives, by helping Miriam’s House continue its important efforts to provide permanent, supportive housing services.”
Through its grant program, the Cardinal Bank Community Fund has benefited more than 80 local organizations and service programs since its inception, keeping sight of the Fund’s mission and deep commitment to giving back to the communities where we live, work, and raise our families. Cardinal employees also donate generously of their time to community organizations throughout the region.
