NEWS BRIEF -- TransCore Vice President to Moderate Key Panel Discussion At Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) Annual Meeting
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Don Thornton, senior vice president of sales for TransCore’s Freight Business Services, will lead a panel of industry experts as they discuss metrics at the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) Annual Convention and Tradeshow in San Antonio, Texas. The show slated for April 1-4, 2009, is the world’s largest gathering of brokerage-based third-party logistics providers. The metrics session will be held on April 3 at 4:30 p.m.
“The discussion is part of an advanced educational track designed to help companies move to the next level,” said Thornton. “We’ll be exploring which metrics logistics providers should measure and how they impact the bottom line.”
Thornton will base many of his remarks on the soon to be released Broker Benchmark Survey. The 500 freight brokerage companies and third-party logistics providers who responded provided critical information on operations, revenues, margins and sources of business during 2008.
In Thornton’s role at TransCore, he is responsible for the sale of freight matching, transportation management systems, compliance services, and satellite fleet tracking and communications products. He has more than 25 years experience in transportation technology and sales, and has served on the TIA board of directors for seven years as a Director’s Circle member.
