Vizada to Distribute Inmarsat Handheld Service
Land-based Mobile Satellite Users Benefit from Handset by End Q2 2010
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vizada, the leading independent satellite communications provider, has been selected by Inmarsat as distribution partner for Inmarsat’s Global Satellite Phone Services (GSPS).
GSPS is a family of handheld mobile satellite phones which enable users to make a voice call, send text messages and use GPS navigation services from anywhere in the world. Vizada and Inmarsat are working together to launch the first product in the global handheld family, the IsatPhone Pro for land-based users. The launch is due end of Q2 2010, and maritime and secure products from the GSPS family will be launched at planned intervals thereafter.
The IsatPhone Pro will be aimed at customers based in remote areas requiring a reliable and rapidly-deployable handheld phone with global coverage for safety, improved on-site coordination, contact with headquarter offices etc. Typical users will be government and military customers, journalists, NGO workers, and remote-based employees of mining or oil & gas companies.
Vizada’s IsatPhone Pro service will include training, 24-hour customer care & trouble shooting as well as competitive pricing packages. Above all, Vizada will combine a number of applications and tools from its Vizada Solutions™ portfolio, including prepaid solutions, access to The Source®, Vizada’s web-based information system enabling service providers to track and manage GSPS end-user accounts, and Satellite Direct® for low-cost fixed to mobile calling.
