Dow Coating Materials Introduces Next Generation OP Technology for Alkyd Paints at ASEFAPI Technical Congress in Barcelona, Spain

HORGEN, Switzerland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dow Coating Materials, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, and Brenntag Quimica, a leading chemical products distributor, will jointly deliver a paper entitled “Next Generation Opaque Polymer Technology and Its Application to Alkyd Paints” – at the 23^rd Technical Congress of the Association of Spanish Paint and Ink Manufacturers (ASEFAPI) held on the 27^th of October at Palacio de Congresos de Cataluña in Barcelona, Spain.

“The presentation focuses on a new generation of opaque polymer (OP) technology developed for use in the formulation of architectural solvent-borne alkyd paints,” said co-author and presenter Alain Garzon of Dow. “OP technology can lead to improved paint film performance, such as opacity, scrub resistance, durability and color retention, and can enable significant formulation cost savings. Until now, however, its application has been limited to standard water-borne latex. This new generation of OP technology will expand its use by allowing for improved formulation performance and reduced volatile organic compound content with better economics.”
