Pacer Promotes Randy Strutz to Chief Commercial Officer of Its Retail 3PL Segment; Former Logistics Manager With Thomson Consumer Electronics to Focus on Growth, Cross-Selling, Cost-Effective Logistics Solutions for Customers

CONCORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 2006--Pacer International, Inc. (Nasdaq:PACR), the North America freight transportation and logistics provider, has promoted Randy Strutz to the position of chief commercial officer of its retail 3PL segment, known as Pacer Global Logistics (PGL). Strutz, who will also retain his duties as president of PGL's rail brokerage unit, will report to Alex M. Munn, president and chief executive officer of PGL.

Strutz was formerly associated with Thomson Consumer Electronics, Inc. for 13 years, with broad experience in finance, logistics and transportation, and plant management, including heading Thomson's television-glass manufacturing plant operation. He joined Pacer in 2001.

As chief commercial officer, Strutz will be responsible for all sales, marketing and business development activities for the company's retail businesses, which provide third-party logistics services directly to manufacturers and retailers. These services include intermodal marketing (rail brokerage), truck brokerage, trucking services, warehousing and distribution, international freight forwarding, and supply-chain management services.
