Business, Logistics and Transportation Editors
DESOTO, Texas--Sept. 24, 2002--Gerry Angeli, president of the Truck Services group of Pacer Global Logistics (PGL), the retail logistics division of Pacer International (Nasdaq: PACR), has announced the promotion of Russ Oldson as executive vice president, and other appointments.
Oldson, most recently a vice president for field operations for Pacer Transport, the group's flatbed, heavy-haul and over-the-road van unit, will have responsibility not only for that unit's field operations, but also for its Central Dispatch and the Customer Service departments.
Named vice presidents were Steve Gaskill, who was promoted from controller to vice president and controller of the Truck Services group; John O'Toole, who fills the newly created position of vice president for Agency Development; and George Michaelback, who was promoted to vice president and general manager of the group's Harbor Rail Transport (HRT) operations.
Gaskill will oversee the group's financial matters, as well as its information technology and corporate reporting. O'Toole, who continues to be responsible for agency recruiting in the Western region, will now be responsible for recruiting and development nationwide. Michaelback's HRT operations deliver local drayage (trucking) services to and from the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports.
Two other recent appointments to the group include Robert Lee, who, with 15 years in the transportation industry, joins the group as manager of Administration; and Jim Brady, promoted to Customer Service supervisor.
"We are promoting and hiring logistics and transportation professionals of the highest quality. This will ensure our continued ability to provide value-added trucking services individually or as part of customized supply-chain packages for PGL's customers," said Angeli
