Carl Kooyoomjian, Former Coca-Cola Executive, Named Chairman of Pacer Global Logistics

CONCORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 6, 2001--Pacer International, a non-asset based international third-party logistics provider, named Carl K. Kooyoomjian, most recently corporate vice president of the Coca-Cola Company, as chairman of its retail logistics unit, Pacer Global Logistics.

Kooyoomjian has headed both the strategic global procurement and the concentrate manufacturing functions for Coke, a $20 billion company. He also served as vice president for acquisition and purchasing at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), which was subsequently acquired by Compaq Computer.

"Carl Kooyoomjian brings to Pacer an unparalleled understanding of supply-chain management requirements from the perspective of a demanding customer," said Don Orris, chairman and chief executive officer of Pacer International.

"Pacer is already providing customers with a broad range of retail logistics products," added Orris. "Carl will oversee and integrate these products, drawing upon his experience in distribution, manufacturing and information technology."

Added Kooyoomjian: "Because many of our customers are interested in working with a smaller number of logistics providers that can meet all their supply-chain-management needs, we want to ensure that Pacer's current and future offerings will be as unified as customers require, with consistent standards of performance."

With the acquisition of Rail Van Inc., late in 2000, Pacer International is approximately a $2 billion company. The services of its Pacer Global Logistics unit include intermodal marketing (arranging customized rail and truck transportation for manufacturers and retailers), freight consolidation and handling, truck brokerage, specialized trucking, supply-chain management, international freight forwarding and ocean transportation.

ABOUT PACER -- Pacer International, a leading non-asset based international third-party logistics company, offers a broad array of logistics and other services to facilitate the movement of freight from origin to destination. Its services include wholesale stacktrain services (cost-efficient, two-tiered rail transportation for containerized shipments), and retail trucking, intermodal marketing, freight consolidation and handling, international freight forwarding, and supply-chain management services.
