Bob Gernon Named VP Logistics Operations For Pacer`s Intermodal Division
Pacer International is a fast-growing North America freight transportation and logistics services provider. Its intermodal division packages intermodal transportation services in North America for global manufacturers and retailers.
Gernon will be responsible for the intermodal division's negotiations with the North American railroads that provide underlying transportation; for its equipment utilization and drayage optimization programs; and for overall review of operations and customer service, according to Rich Hyland, president of the division. Gernon will also provide support to the division's sales programs.
Gernon, who served as director of international operations in the Intermodal Business unit of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company and has also worked for both Conrail and Alton & Southern, has specialized in an intermodal consulting practice that stresses creative partnerships and modal optimization. Clients have included CSX Transportation Company; the World Bank; Ferrocarriles Nacionales de Mexico; Heublein, Inc.; and China's Ministry of Railroads.
