Tom Shurstad of Pacer Stacktrain Appointed to Board of Intermodal Association of North America
Pacer Stacktrain, part of Pacer International, Inc. (Nasdaq:PACR), is one of North America's largest double-stack rail networks for the distribution of both domestic and international containerized freight. IANA is a national trade organization representing the combined interests of the intermodal freight industry, with 500 member companies. It is based in the Washington, D.C. area.
According to IANA president and chief executive officer Joni Casey, Shurstad's appointment reflects "Pacer's strong role in the industry and Tom Shurstad's personal commitment to making a difference in the industry's continuing success."
Said Shurstad: "I look forward to contributing to the intermodal sector's growing ability to offer innovative, efficient, value-added services. Intermodalism will become an increasingly vital key to helping manufacturers and retailers manage their supply chains competitively."
Shurstad, who joined Pacer Stacktrain in 2002, had previously served as chief executive officer of the Chicago-based Belt Railway. He has also held management positions with Southern Pacific Lines until its merger with Union Pacific; APL, Ltd.; Port of Seattle; and Burlington Northern Railroad.
Aside from his IANA board position, Shurstad also serves on the board of directors of the University of Denver's Intermodal Transportation Institute in Denver.
