Pacer Stacktrain Names Adriene Bailey as Executive VP for Business Development

CONCORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 26, 2004--Adriene Bailey, formerly executive vice president of Transportation Purchasing and Equipment for Pacer Stacktrain, has been named executive vice president of Business Development and Transportation Purchasing for the Concord-based company.

Pacer Stacktrain, which operates the most extensive system of double-stack rail transportation for containerized freight, is the wholesale sales channel of Pacer International (Nasdaq:PACR), the North American freight transportation and logistics services provider.

According to Pacer Stacktrain President Tom Shurstad, Bailey's group will encompass various sales, marketing and purchasing functions, including Transportation Purchasing, led by Glen Hilton; Automotive, led by Derrel Chappell; Ocean Carrier Services, led by Keith Hansen; and Marketing, led by David Hoppens. Hoppens will also assume new duties related to customer service and customer usage of the company's container equipment.

In related news, Peter Mettra, who serves as vice president for Pacer Stacktrain's third-party domestic line of business, working with the intermodal marketing companies (IMCs) that are Pacer Stacktrain's principal customers, will become a member of the company's senior staff. Also becoming a member of the senior staff is Doug Matthew, vice president in charge of Pacer Stacktrain's logistics and equipment management. JR Thornton, named vice president of Planning and Administration, continues as a member of the senior staff.

About Adriene Bailey -- Adriene Bailey has more than 14 years of experience in transportation-related planning and operations, holding key positions in logistics and equipment management for Pacer Stacktrain. She joined the Pacer organization in 2000 as vice president for planning for Pacer International, the parent organization.

Bailey has also served as assistant vice president for service planning and operations research at CSX Transportation, responsible for planning the merchandise operating network of more than 350 daily trains. She also held posts related to operational, financial and strategic planning for Southern Pacific Railroad, where she was vice president of service planning and design; and was a consultant to the transportation and logistics industry with Mercer Management Consulting and that firm's predecessor, Temple, Barker & Sloan, Inc. She holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Wharton School of Business and a BSE in Civil Engineering-Systems Management Engineering from Princeton University.
