Altegrity Acquires John D. Cohen, Inc.; Will Work with New Altegrity Security Consulting Business Unit

Acquisition Enhances Business’ Criminal Justice System, Law Enforcement, and Security Solutions

FALLS CHURCH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Altegrity, Inc.—the global screening and security solutions provider—announced today the close of its acquisition of John D. Cohen, Inc., a contract provider of national security policy guidance and counsel to the federal government. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

John D. Cohen, Inc., will become part of US Investigations Services, LLC and operate under the auspices of and coordinate its efforts with Altegrity’s new business, Altegrity Security Consulting (ASC), supporting its mission of providing a broad range of thought-leading services and proprietary solutions to law enforcement agencies and the federal government, both within the United States and overseas. Mr. Cohen will report to William J. Bratton, former Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, who is CEO of ASC.

Recognized as one of the “100 key people in Homeland Security” by the National Journal magazine, John D. Cohen, who leads the business, has significant experience in law enforcement, security services, and national security policy development. He served as the Senior Homeland Security Policy Advisor to both the Governors of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Arizona prior to founding his security consulting business in 2005.

From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Cohen served as an advisor on homeland security and law enforcement issues to a variety of state and local governments following the attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. Prior to 2001, he held a series of high-level analyst, policy development, and security investigations positions, including service as senior policy analyst, Office of Planning, Budget, and Research, Executive Office of the President of the U.S., Office of National Drug Policy, and senior investigator-senior professional staff, U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on the Judiciary. His experience also includes service as detective and acting supervisor of special investigations, Gardena, Calif., Police Department; and federal agent, Department of Navy, Office of Naval Intelligence and Naval Investigative Service.
