MEDecision Completes Successful 2009 as Demand for Health Information Exchange Grows
- Active Year Establishes Solid Foundation for Future Growth
- New Leadership, Customers, Partnerships and Products Drive Success
- Company Well Positioned to Continue Momentum in 2010
WAYNE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MEDecision, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, will leverage an active year of enterprise change and foundational growth in 2009 as a springboard to continued expansion and success in 2010. Closing out a year highlighted by new leadership and product development, the company is well positioned to capitalize on the opportunities of the changing health care market.
“Our aim was to use 2009 as a jumping off point to even greater success in 2010 and beyond”
“2009 was a very pivotal and transitional year for us,” said Scott Storrer, who became president and CEO at MEDecision effective January 1. “While many companies scaled back, we took additional measures to ensure that we’re on the strongest possible footing to deliver against upcoming health information exchange initiatives. We implemented a lot of change and established very big goals. We challenged ourselves to do a lot of things differently in order to achieve our objectives. We accomplished a great deal this past year, and everyone in our organization had a hand in it.”
MEDecision’s most significant milestones in 2009 include:
New Products Advance Health Information Exchange
In June, the company announced the availability of Alineo® 2.0, the newest version of its Alineo collaborative health care management platform. Alineo 2.0 allows health plans to optimize automation and efficiency in the delivery of care management programs while fostering a more member-centric, whole-person approach. It is designed to help maximize the effectiveness of case, disease and utilization management initiatives by simplifying integration with other internal and external medical management systems.
MEDecision launched Nexalign® 7.0 in April. Nexalign fosters better clinical decisions, better health outcomes, and reduced costs by providing a simplified and smart way for health care payers, patients, physicians and other care providers to access and exchange health information, while meeting HIPAA compliance and security standards.
Technology Acquisition Bolsters EHR Development
Finalizing the acquisition of HxTechnologies, Inc. (HxTI) in May enabled MEDecision to add HxTI’s health information exchange capabilities to Alineo and Nexalign. This further extends MEDecision’s ability to generate and deliver the real-time actionable information needed to provide meaningful and interoperable electronic health records.
Customer Contracts/Strategic Partnerships Exemplify Health Care’s Technological Transformation
MEDecision renewed 11 customer contracts in 2009. New customer contracts were highlighted by agreements with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (BCBSKC) and the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC). BCBSKC, the largest not-for-profit insurer in Missouri and the only not-for-profit health insurer in Kansas City, entered into an agreement with MEDecision for Alineo. AFMC contracted for Alineo and Nexalign to manage care for its 750,000 Medicaid beneficiaries in Arkansas and Alabama.
2009 also saw MEDecision formulate a number of key, new strategic partnerships with such companies as:
- Availity, LLC, a leading health information network provider
- Emmi Solutions, LLC, the market leader in interactive patient engagement programs
- InSite One, Inc., the industry’s leading medical provider of enterprise archiving and disaster recovery managed services
Best Places to Work Awards Signal Healthy, High-Performing Culture
MEDecision received two significant “best places to work” honors in 2009. The company placed #21 out of 100 on Modern Healthcare Magazine’s list of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare, and #33 on the Central Penn Business Journal’s list of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.
“Our aim was to use 2009 as a jumping off point to even greater success in 2010 and beyond,” Storrer said. “In the coming year, we will further increase our focus on providing products that allow payers and providers to take a more patient-centered approach to health care. We have challenged ourselves to reach even higher goals, and we’re confident that the momentum we’ve built will carry us to the next level.”
