Johns Manville Announces
Chopped Strand/Rovings Furnace Expansion

Upgrade incorporates state-of-the-art technology to meet growing customer demand

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Johns Manville (JM), a leading manufacturer of building and specialty products, today announced plans for a major furnace upgrade in its complex in Waterville, Ohio. Materials produced by this furnace support the thermoplastic and wind energy markets in North America. The upgrade will begin in early 2007 and conclude by mid-summer. This unit will be out of service for approximately six months.

“We recognize the reduced capacity situation in North America while the furnace is being upgraded and have invested considerable effort to ensure we are positioned to cover existing customer demand,” said Boz Malik, Americas business leader for Global Reinforcements. “The new state-of-the-art furnace will be capable of producing high-quality product to meet the growing demand from our valued customers.”

“This investment is a major improvement that allows us to expand and enhance our capabilities,” said Mike Huff, vice president and general manager, Global Reinforcements. “This significant project underscores JM’s commitment to delivering world-class products to growing North American markets such as thermoplastics and wind energy.”
