Tutor Perini Receives U.S. Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard Contract

SYLMAR, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tutor Perini Corporation (NYSE: TPC), a leading civil and building construction company, today announced the receipt on September 4, 2009 of an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard Facilities Design & Construction Center. The maximum value for the contract is $500 million. It is valid for one base year with six option years.

The contract enables Tutor Perini to compete for individual task order contracts for U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) facilities across the United States and its territories, including Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This contract vehicle may also be used to support construction for other Department of Homeland Security agencies, such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).

This is the first national Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC) to be issued by the USCG. Awards were made following a two-step proposal process based on Best Value analysis, which placed an emphasis on Experience, Past Performance and Design-Build Management Approach. Tutor Perini has been supporting the U.S. Government with construction of facilities and infrastructure since the 1940s and has been performing design-build construction since 1979 through its subsidiaries Perini Management Services, Inc. (PMSI) and Black Construction Corporation (BCC).

PMSI has successfully managed nearly $2 billion worth of IDIQ contract task orders for construction over the past 15 years, including work in Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. BCC is the leading construction contractor in Guam. Both companies have significant experience with waterfront construction, which is pertinent to USCG facilities.

The Tutor Perini Team for this contract includes Clark Nexsen Architecture & Engineering of Norfolk, VA; Argus Consulting of Kansas City, MO and ACC Construction Company of Augusta, GA.
