Job Title: Regional Manager
Job Description:
Business Wire, a global news wire service, seeks competitive and experienced Regional Manager to lead our enjoyable and high-functioning team in our Seattle office. The primary emphasis of this position is on ensuring the accomplishment of office revenue goals by selling news distribution, communications solutions, multimedia tools and financial compliance services to public companies, private firms and PR & IR agencies. In addition, the Regional Manager oversees the day-to-day functions of all sales, operations and support staff.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidates will possess a strong background in direct outside sales (5+ yrs) essential, with management experience (2+yrs). PR/IR, New Media or Info services experience preferred.
Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Meet sales quotas, dollar sales and appointment goals as set by company and regional vice president
- Land, maintain and up-sell top-tier, high-volume accounts
- Maintain and foster relationship with “high level” contacts with prestige clients and prospects
- Up-sell clients by informing them of additional services Business Wire can offer them
- Attend tradeshows to network among exhibitors
- Travel to different areas of the state or region when necessary
- Manage the efforts of other sales staff to ensure consistent new business development in each sales territory
- Oversee office staff involvement with professional organizations (NIRI, PRSA, Publicity Club, etc.) to ensure a high level of visibility of the Business Wire brand
- Devise and execute effective sales strategies to ensure continuous revenue growth
- Schedule and conduct regular sales meetings to ensure ongoing training for sales staff
- Monitor competitors in the marketplace to ensure Business Wire maintains market share growth and competitive advantages
- Work with the regional vice president to hire and train sales staff
- Contribute to performance evaluations for all sales staff
- Work with Newsroom Supervisor and Regional Vice President to ensure that newsroom employees are familiar with Business Wire products and services, and to maintain consistent communication between newsroom and sales staff
- Contribute to and participate in performance evaluations for all newsroom and support staff within the Regional Managers' jurisdiction in conjunction with the newsroom supervisor and Director, Global Operations
- Serve as principal liaison with Call Center, Collections, Facilities, and Legal Administration staff to ensure consistent compliance with Business Wire policies and business practices
Familiarity with public relations, investor relations, media and financial markets a plus.
Position requires a reliable automobile, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage as required by Business Wire.

- Proven track record in sales, including exceeding quota requirements and growing a sales territory

- 5 or more years outside sales experience (w/ 2+ as sales manager)
- Formal sales training in a recognized program
