Software Quality Assurance Tester

Business Wire is seeking a Software QA Tester, with two or more years of experience. The position requires a person who is self-motivated and seeks challenging creative work in a diverse environment. This person must also be resourceful and creative about learning Business Wire's software and business, and take the initiative to become a productive member of the team.

The Software Quality Assurance Tester will be responsible for testing Business Wire’s suite of applications. This position involves primarily manual testing as well as some automated testing, and focuses on user experience and functionality.

Duties may include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Understand and follow test plans
  • Execute test cases
  • Report on product quality using a variety of methods
  • Perform reliability, regression, usability, stress, performance, security and other types of testing as appropriate
  • Conscientiously track bugs using the company’s tracking system (Jira)
  • Work as a team member performing any and all functions necessary for successful operation as determined by the Chief Information Officer

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in software testing or development or related field
  • Ability to do black box or other types of testing
  • Willingness and ability to test client-server, mobile, web or other applications as developed by Business Wire software engineers
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (especially Word and Excel)
  • Basic HTML and XML knowledge, or capability to learn quickly
  • Basic automated testing of websites, or capability to learn quickly
  • Basic knowledge of SQL statements to retrieve data from Oracle databases
  • Basic understanding of software development methodologies
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player and ability to work effectively with a variety of people
  • Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Pay strict attention to detail and be exceptionally observant
  • Learn and adhere to all standard operating procedures
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Demonstrate reliability through good attendance and punctuality
