SAN MATEO, Calif.--(www.datameer.com), a provider of a big data analytics solution built on Apache Hadoop, today announced the beta availability of Datameer Analytics Solution (DAS). “We are very pleased with the tremendous response we’ve received in such a short time”
Datameer is currently conducting its beta program with businesses interested in using DAS to remove the technical barriers of accessing, analyzing and using massive amounts of data. Current participants in the DAS beta program include leaders in security software, financial services, telecommunications and Internet research and digital insights.
“Our Global Threat Intelligence platform requires us to analyze large heterogeneous datasets in a quick and scalable fashion,” said Dr. Sven Krasser, Senior Director of Data Mining Research at McAfee. “To get this accomplished, we leverage Hadoop as a computing platform. One drawback compared to traditional relational data warehouses is that data is not readily accessible to non-technical users. Using Datameer Analytics Solution, we are looking to close this gap and get the most out of our data to derive threat intelligence and protection for our customers.”
DAS is the first Hadoop-based analytics solution that includes data source integration, storage, an analytics engine and visualization. Whereas alternatives require extensive setup, integration, development and training, DAS delivers value quickly and affordably. Datameer’s spreadsheet interface also makes it easy for business users to start gaining insights from the platform immediately upon installation.
Key benefits of DAS include:
“Hadoop promises to become a ubiquitous framework for large-scale business intelligence, but right now it is difficult for many developers to use,” said Shawn Rogers, Vice President Research, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Management Associates. “I see tremendous value in Datameer’s approach – making Hadoop accessible to more users who need scalable analytic power for their organization’s big data requirements.”
“We are very pleased with the tremendous response we’ve received in such a short time,” said Ajay Anand, CEO of Datameer. “This attests to clear market need for a new approach to big data analytics, one like DAS that brings the power of the Hadoop open source framework for data-intensive distributed applications to business users.”
Datameer also announced today that it has closed a $2.5 million Series A round of funding from Redpoint Ventures to grow DAS sales and marketing. Concurrent with the funding, John Walecka, a Founding Partner of Redpoint Ventures, has joined Datameer’s Board of Directors.
DAS will be generally available in the fall of 2010. For more information, please visit www.datameer.com.
