MINNEAPOLIS--()--In recognition of Pat Fallon’s years of hard work helping to build and cultivate the advertising industry in Minnesota, and in honor of his induction into the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Hall of Fame, Mayor R.T. Rybak has proclaimed March 25, 2010 to be ‘Pat Fallon Day’ in the city of Minneapolis.
“It's a testament to the strength of the founding beliefs and our unique Fallon culture that we have been able to grow our company against the backdrop of these very difficult economic times.”
Pat Fallon will be in New York City today to receive his award from the American Advertising Federation. Fallon Worldwide’s Minneapolis headquarters will celebrate with an all-employee luncheon starting at noon. The luncheon will feature congratulations videos from current and past Fallon employees, a compilation video of “Pat’s Top 15” favorite ads and a feed of the awards ceremony from New York. You can see the ads and videos by visiting www.fallon.com.
The cofounder of Fallon Worldwide (started as Fallon McElligott Rice) Pat Fallon often is credited with establishing the vibrant, competitive and creative ad industry in the nation’s heartland. He has overseen more award-winning advertising than anyone in the agency business, putting Minneapolis on the map with breakthrough work for blue-chip clients such as BMW, McDonald's, United Airlines, Travelers, Purina, Citibank, Jim Beam and Lee Jeans.
Included in the list of Fallon's accomplishments are Emmy Awards for Citi's “identity theft” and PBS television commercials, as well as the first Cyber Lion ever awarded at the Cannes Film Festival for the BMW short, on-line film series.
Currently Fallon’s chairman emeritus, Pat spends much of his time today nurturing company culture, serving as a brand ambassador, coaching young people and consulting on client business. His deep knowledge of branding issues, thirst for learning and relentless need to achieve continues to make him an invaluable asset.
“The values that this agency was built on continue to stand the test of time,” said Chris Foster, CEO of Fallon Worldwide. “It's a testament to the strength of the founding beliefs and our unique Fallon culture that we have been able to grow our company against the backdrop of these very difficult economic times.”
Pat Fallon, Chairman Emeritus
Pat founded Fallon in 1981 with the single-minded desire to stand for creative excellence—in the people hired, in the partnerships forged, in the work produced and in the results achieved.
Pat has won virtually every award in the business, but his most valued achievement is the trust he has earned from his clients. Moreover, through the years he has had amazing good fortune in attracting and keeping talented people—people of character and unusually high standards of excellence that have made Fallon their professional home. Pat never forgets the gratitude of debt he owes to them for taking his vision and making it their own and then working together to attain the shared ideals of creativity and profitability.
Pat is a past board member of the Minnesota Orchestra, The Guthrie Theater, and the Ordway Center for Performing Arts. He is currently a board member for the National Children’s Defense Fund. Pat is also an active commissioner for the Minnesota Combative Sports Commission (formerly the Minnesota Boxing Commission). Pat is a published author — Juicing the Orange — written with his long-time partner and friend, Fred Senn. And rumor has it he may have a novel in him that is currently trying to escape the boundaries of his 5' 7", blue-steel anatomical frame.
Pat, who lives in Minneapolis, has five children — Kevin, Megan, Duffy, Reilly and Tressa — as well as one grandson, Leo and a daughter-in-law, Leslie. They are the center of his life and an ongoing source of tremendous pride.
