Multivendor ATM Software Research Confirms KAL as World Leading Independent ATM Software Specialist

EDINBURGH, Scotland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KAL, the global ATM software company, has once again emerged as the world’s leading independent ATM software company in research recently carried-out by London-based Retail Banking Research (RBR). This important bi-annual industry barometer included in-depth interviews with 66 financial services organizations in 39 countries that collectively have deployed 278,000 “true-multivendor software” ATMs worldwide.

True multi-vendor software is where ATM software from one vendor runs on ATM hardware from a different vendor. The RBR study has shown that there has been an impressive increase in the number of such ATMs, rising +67% in two years from the 2007 total.

The study found that the top three vendors now dominate the market for true multivendor software, holding more than 66% market share between them. NCR is in first position with 24% while KAL and Wincor Nixdorf are equal second with 21% each. KAL is the only company in the top three whose focus is exclusively on ATM software.

Other companies listed below the three market leaders account for between 7% and 0.4% of the total market share.
