REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--()--Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OPWV), a global software innovator delivering context-aware mediation and messaging solutions that enable communication service providers and the broader ecosystem to create and deliver smarter services, today announced that Kansai Multimedia Service Company (KMS), the provider in the Kansai area of cable internet services under the “ZAQ” brand for Jupiter Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (J:COM), the largest multi-system operator (MSO) in Japan, has selected a suite of Openwave’s infrastructure and email solutions that include Openwave® RichMail and Openwave® Email Mx supported by Openwave professional services.
“We concluded that Openwave’s messaging suite was the most suitable to achieve this goal.”
“The goal of KMS is to deliver to our subscribers highly reliable and engaging services – not available through other ISPs –without compromising security and value,” said Tadashi Hara, President of KMS. “We concluded that Openwave’s messaging suite was the most suitable to achieve this goal.”
The messaging solution selected by KMS includes Openwave RichMail, an AJAX-based converged communications solution that offers the end user a web-based means for accessing the mailbox wherever and whenever it’s needed, and Openwave Email Mx, an extensible, carrier-scale email solution that scales to support any number of subscribers with fast, reliable performance. Openwave’s infrastructure and email solutions eliminate the need for KMS to deal with multiple vendors and multiple modules, providing a consolidated end-to-end platform that includes a back end message store, anti-abuse solutions and web access for end users. The flexible, extensible and highly scalable IPv6 compliant platforms are expected to allow in the future the rapid deployment of customized solutions including new revenue-generating services that are capable of handling millions of subscribers and large-capacity mailbox storage. In addition, the Openwave solution provides KMS with the foundation needed to deploy disaster-recovery solutions in the future.
“New communications applications and social networking are driving improved and unique experiences in broadband while driving a massive uptake in messaging usage overall,” said Ken Denman, CEO, Openwave. “Openwave’s RichMail and Email Mx have a proven track record in large-scale deployments with Tier 1 mobile carriers and broadband ISPs in Japan, North America and Europe. We believe RichMail and Email Mx will allow KMS to differentiate itself by offering integrated messaging services with new ways to personalize, brand and monetize their ZAQ services.”
