Ticonderoga Securities Further Expands Equity-Research Group with Launch of US and Europe Technical Research Coverage

Expansion Focuses on Top Daily US and European Stocks by Volume

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ticonderoga Securities, an institutional broker dealer, announced today that it has expanded its equity-research group to include technical analysis research coverage, with an initial focus on the relationship between stocks hitting relative highs/lows and stocks showing higher than average volumes.

“Our research is the main differentiator between us and other firms. Our strength is in our intellectual capital. Our analysts have a depth of understanding in their respective industries and can offer strategic recommendations”

The firm continues to position itself as a leading broker dealer that concentrates on domestic and international equities with a focus on high-quality order execution alongside its differentiated research. The technical research coverage initiation follows the launch of the equity research group on October 1, when Ticonderoga announced its coverage of 14 technology supply chain and networking companies, led by Managing Director Brian J. White, and the announcement last week of its coverage of eight chemical sector companies led by Senior Analyst Christopher Shaw.

“Our research is the main differentiator between us and other firms. Our strength is in our intellectual capital. Our analysts have a depth of understanding in their respective industries and can offer strategic recommendations,” said Joel Plasco, Chairman and Co-Founder of Ticonderoga Securities. “With the addition of technical analysis research, we are continuing our goal of building a research group that is unparalleled in providing clients with in-depth analysis and information. We continue to do this with the help of leading analysts in their fields like Eric Lanteigne.”

The daily technical research will be led by Ticonderoga’s Head of Technical Analysis, Eric Lanteigne. Lanteigne has more than 12 years experience as a technical analyst, using traditional pattern recognition techniques coupled with basic indicators (MACD, Stochastic, RSI, Bollinger Bands and the likes). Prior to joining the firm, Lanteigne was the senior Technical Analyst at Collins Stewart. Prior to that, he was at ScotiaCapital in Toronto where he did fundamental analysis for the resources sectors. He ranked number 8 in Europe for technical analysis in the most recent Extel survey. Lanteigne received a specialized degree in Economics from the University of Montreal. He holds CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CMT (Chartered Market Technician) and MSTA (Member Society of Technical Analysis (UK).

Lanteigne commented: “Our approach to technical analysis is based on relative strength as this has long been established as one of the best investment strategies over any time-frame. We first filter the markets looking for new relative highs and lows. Then we look for stocks moving with meaningful volume. Finally, the “art” part of technical analysis comes into play as we look for specific patterns in order to establish the most probable direction of the stock and an associated target price.”
