World Mission Maranatha Presents Its “Child Rescue” Sponsorship Program
BELLFLOWER, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Due to the great effort and generosity of the congregation of World Mission Maranatha, and thanks to individual sponsors who donate to the “Child Rescue” Sponsorship Program, many children in Nicaragua and El Salvador receive food, clothing, medical care, and education, free of charge.
The “Una Cita Con Dios” School was founded in Managua, Nicaragua, in 1992. When U.C.C.D. began its work in the community, where the school is currently located (Reparto Vista al Xolotlán), many of the families were suffering from unemployment, poor nutrition, and physical, emotional and sexual abuse. With the Center’s arrival, the students and parents have been learning the value of education and have adopted an orderly behavior and hygienic lifestyle. Presently, more than 1,000 children are being cared for, and are studying at preschool, primary and secondary levels. In addition to a good education, the children receive uniforms, clothing, shoes, scholastic materials, toys, and two meals per day, plus food hampers for their families. The students are visited in their homes, where the environment of the home is evaluated and the necessary assistance is provided.
A children’s cafeteria has also been founded in San Miguel, El Salvador, where U.C.C.D. provides 2 meals daily for over 200 children and seniors.
Statistics show that 26% of children in Latin America have no education. The illnesses of cholera, and other infections, are taking the lives of thousands of children each year. Hunger is a daily anguish for these little ones. These children are desperately waiting for help.
For more information on becoming a sponsor of a needy child, or to make a one-time donation, contact Imelda Perez, Sponsorship Coordinator, at 562-263-4100 Ext. 115. A monthly donation of $30.00 can radically change the future of a child in urgent need.
World Mission Maranatha and the International Council U.C.C.D. (Una Cita Con Dios), under the leadership of founder Pastor José Luis Soto, are non-profit corporations that have worked together for more than 24 years, providing social and spiritual assistance in the United States, Nicaragua, El Salvador and México.
