Business Wire to Present XBRL Webinar September 24
Webinar to review the lessons learned from the first wave of XBRL filings
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With the initial phase of the SEC-mandated XBRL filing period drawing to a close, Business Wire will host a free webinar on September 24 featuring government and industry experts who will examine the lessons to be learned from the experiences of the more than 400 issuers that have already migrated to interactive data reporting.
Free registration to the one-hour webinar, "XBRL Update:Guidance for a Successful Filing," is available at the following link: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/166595193. The program is scheduled between 1 and 2 pm Eastern time.
Reflecting on the first three months since the SEC mandate went into effect, the panel will provide valuable insights on the XBRL creation process, best practices, recommendations, and next steps for current and first-time filers.
The panelists include:
Michael Becker, Business Wire's vice president, Global Disclosure and Financial Reporting [Moderator];
David Blaszkowsky, Director, Office of Interactive Disclosure, United States Securities and Exchange Commission;
Campbell Pryde, Vice President, Domain and Chief Standards Officer, XBRL U.S.;
Clare O'Leary, CPA, Director of Special Projects, Pfizer, Inc;
Ali Paksima, CPA, XBRL Accounting Manager, Business Wire.
The SEC approved a tiered timetable last December for the deployment of XBRL, an electronic filing format that facilitates comparative financial analysis. According to the agency's schedule, large accelerated filers with greater than $5 billion in common equity float were obligated to submit XBRL filings to accompany new or updated financials after June 15, 2009. All remaining issuers are to be phased-in over the next two years.
