Steve Shine, executive vice president of world operations, will speak at JBoss World in a joint presentation with Fima Katz, CEO of Exadel on Thursday, September 3 at 2:40 p.m. (CT). Shine and Katz will discuss “Building Java Applications in the Cloud” and will review how developers and ISVs can use open source and the cloud to write java applications as a way to drive down deployment costs with Ingres, JBoss, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Developers can get started by downloading the Ingres Development Stack for JBoss at http://esd.ingres.com/product/JBoss_Stack.
“Even as the economy begins to rebound, companies will still be looking for ways to cut cost,” said Steve Shine, executive vice president of world operations, Ingres. “Developing and deploying applications with open source in the cloud offers companies a new way to lower costs without losing scalability or robustness. “Exadel is well positioned to help companies move their development and production environments of RIA and mission critical applications to the cloud and achieve the real cost savings there are to offer,” said Fima Katz, CEO of Exadel.
Wood’s session, “Using Open Source Technologies on Facebook” is part of the Red Hat Summit and is scheduled for Thursday, September 3 at 10:10 a.m. (CT). Woods will explore how Rivet Logic delivered a next generation application with open source on the social networking site. Using the Ingres Database for the repository with JBoss, Alfresco, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rivet Logic was able to create a cost-effective solution for Connected Weddings, a Facebook application that helps with wedding planning and connecting wedding guests.
“Social Networking sites have become a new platform for developers to launch products or services,” said Woods. “As these sites are leveraged by developers, it’s important that there is a cost-effective solution with business critical scalability and performance. Open source offers developers that type of performance with a much less expensive barrier to entry.”
Deb Woods is vice president of product management at Ingres Corporation and discusses the latest Ingres products and how you can get involved in the Ingres community in her blog, “Out of the Woods” at http://blogs.ingres.com/debwoods/.
