StubHub’s “Tickets for Trees Weekend in Seattle” Aims to Plant Thousands of Trees in Wenatchee National Forest
Partnership with National Forest Foundation Will Donate a Tree for Every Ticket Purchased on StubHub for Participating Events
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StubHub, the world's largest ticket marketplace, today announced “Tickets for Trees Weekend in Seattle,” an effort to plant a tree for every ticket purchased on StubHub for two marquee events taking place in Seattle September 19-20. In partnership with the National Forest Foundation (NFF), StubHub will plant trees in Wenatchee National Forest, located about 45 miles from Seattle. This continues StubHub’s Tickets for Trees campaign that launched late in 2008 and has already accounted for close to 50,000 trees planted in National Forests across the country.
Two events involving StubHub partner teams make up Tickets for Trees Weekend in Seattle—
On Saturday, September 19th, the Washington Huskies host the USC Trojans in the third game of their upcoming college football season. StubHub is the Preferred Fan to Fan Ticket Marketplace of University of Washington Athletics and the Official Ticket Marketplace of USC Athletics. Ticket prices vary but today are listed as low as $50.

The Seattle Mariners host the New York Yankees as the regular season winds down. The series finale on Sunday, September 20th marks the second event of Tickets for Trees Weekend in Seattle. StubHub is also the Official Fan to Fan Ticket Marketplace of the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees.

Each ticket purchased through StubHub for either event will result in a tree being planted in the Wenatchee National Forest, a forest spanning nearly two million acres. Currently, the U.S. Forest Service estimates that approximately two million acres of National Forests need to be restored, but that number continues to grow. Reforestation becomes that much more important because of the wide ranging benefits — trees produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, provide homes for wildlife, and filter clean water for all of us to drink. Planting trees is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to achieve all these things. For example, 50,000 newly planted trees would sequester more than 25,000 tons of carbon, significantly reducing the buildup of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere and slowing the rate of climate change.
