Former President & COO of DIRECTV to Leverage Digital TV Experience as Move Networks Defines New Standard for Internet Television
AMERICAN FORK, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Move Networks, the leading provider of Internet television services, announced today that it has appointed Roxanne Austin to the positions of president and chief executive officer. She also joins the company’s board of directors effective immediately. Austin, who is renowned for leading the operational and financial turnaround of DIRECTV, was the unanimous selection by the company’s board of directors.
Austin arrives at Move Networks as the company aims to set the standard for television delivered over the Internet. Building on its strength as the premier provider of high-quality live and video-on-demand (VOD) Internet television services, Move Networks now has the capacity to offer an end-to-end solution capable of delivering the highest quality IPTV service available.
The evolution of television on the Internet now demands that service providers offer true high-definition, digital TV experiences that can be monetized by content owners and distributors through proven subscription revenues and enhanced advertising models. To meet these new demands, Move Networks has expanded its service offering to deliver a multi-channel television viewing experience, in both linear and VOD formats; a virtual on-screen DVR and proven targeted advertising capabilities across any open or closed broadband network.
“Roxanne brings the experience, expertise and leadership necessary for Move Networks to help its customers define the future of Internet television,” said Drew Major, Founder of Move Networks. “We are extremely fortunate to have Ms. Austin lead Move Networks and its vision to set the standard for a “true” television experience delivered over the Internet as well as by IPTV.”
Since 2004, Austin has been President of Austin Investment Advisors, a private investment and consulting firm focused on new media and technology. Previously, Ms. Austin was president and COO of DIRECTV, having also held various senior leadership positions at its parent, Hughes Electronics Corporation. Prior to joining Hughes, Ms. Austin was a partner of Deloitte & Touche. She currently serves on the board of directors of Ericsson, Target Corporation, Abbott Laboratories and Teledyne Technologies and is on the board of trustees for the California Science Center.
“The next step for the media industry is to have a sustainable way to monetize professional content on the Internet,” said Roxanne Austin. “I believe Move Networks is uniquely qualified to help make this goal a reality. I look forward to working with our content and distribution partners to ensure they achieve a financially successful transition to this next generation of internet television services.”
