The U.S. Army’s I3MP program “supports global efforts for the new Net-centric Information Technology (IT) and telecommunication systems, expansions, and other modernization upgrade requirements for the Army and other Department of Defense (“DoD”) agencies.” I3MP is implemented through a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for the Infrastructure Modernization (“IMOD”) project administered by the U.S. Army’s Project Manager, Network Service Center (“PM NSC”) at Fort Monmouth, NJ.
Black Box Network Services will upgrade and expand the existing Nortel switch with a new Nortel Communication Server 2100 (“CS2100”) compact, split core communications platform provided by Nortel Government Solutions (“NGS”). The new Nortel system will provide geographic survivability and open architecture, and includes a common processing engine with the existing switch for efficient migration from wired telecommunications to wireless Internet protocol. The CS2100 provides packet-based communications and Session Initiation Protocol (“SIP”), with an approach to business continuity that applies to all elements served by the platform.
“We are honored that the Army has selected Black Box as the integrator to improve and expand the White Sands Missile Range voice communications system,” stated Black Box Network Services - Federal Division Senior Vice President and General Manager Jeff Murray. “This project supports the Army’s current and future requirements for advanced internet protocol voice services while adding efficiencies to the infrastructure that supports White Sands Missile Range mission through the use of these advanced services.”
