Asetek Appoints David Somo to Accelerate Worldwide Sales Growth

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Asetek announced today that it has appointed semiconductor and electronics industry veteran David Somo Vice President of Worldwide Sales to lead its worldwide sales activities. Mr. Somo is responsible for leading worldwide OEM and channel sales efforts bringing more than 20 years of semiconductor and electronics industry expertise to his new position.

Previously, Mr. Somo served as vice president of strategic account sales at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a leading supplier of x86 compatible microprocessors and flash memory. There he established the strategic account organization and managed AMD's sales worldwide. While at AMD, Mr. Somo held the positions of vice president, sales and marketing for the Americas, and vice president of worldwide marketing for AMD's microprocessor business.

Immediately prior to joining Asetek, Mr. Somo served as senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at Celerity, a leading supplier of precision instruments and advanced gas and liquid delivery systems to the semiconductor equipment industry. There, he was responsible for leading the corporate marketing, worldwide sales, applications engineering and field service operations. Before joining Celerity, Mr. Somo served as senior vice president, worldwide sales and service, and corporate officer at MEMC Electronic Materials, a leading supplier of silicon wafers to integrated device manufacturers and semiconductor foundries.
