Best Security Industries Launches Hemispheric IP Camera at NRF Loss Prevention Event
DELRAY BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Best Security Industries, a global leader in the electronic article surveillance and CCTV loss prevention products for the retail security industry, is pleased to announce the launch of its BSI-Q24IP hemispheric camera for the retail security market. This new and unique product features an “all-in-one” approach for retailers, as it incorporates Hi-Resolution 3.1 megapixel image clarity, coupled with an internal DVR (digital video recorder), on board software to operate the camera’s advanced features, two way audio and is designed to operate locally or be monitored remotely over the retailer’s data network. It is considered a revolutionary IP based surveillance solution to help in retail loss prevention.
“Our retail customer base was asking for a cost effective, powerful surveillance device that could span the entire chain of stores, provide immediate feedback of events, and can operate on any computer network or in standalone fashion,” commented Eric Brotherhood, vice president of sales and a video industry expert for BSI. “There simply isn’t another product on the market that can provide these unparalleled views, recording format, two way audio and clarity of image. It is the complete package. It is a perfect solution for any retailer, large or small.”
The BSI-Q24IP camera is designed and built by MOBOTIX, a Langmeil, Germany manufacturer of complete high-resolution IP video systems. With a 60% share of the IP video market, MOBOTIX is the clear worldwide leader in this technology. BSI is a Certified MOBOTIX Partner with special emphasis in the retail vertical market for North America. “BSI enjoys a great reputation and reach within the retail industry,” stated Wolfgang Ritter, Director of Sales for the Americas. “Their knowledge of loss prevention and surveillance makes them a perfect partner to launch this exciting, award-winning product.”
The IP Megapixel Hemispheric Camera was given honorable mention at the Red Dot Design Awards, one of the most renowned and competitive international design competitions. It was the first time that a security and surveillance camera received the award, with over 3,200 products from 49 countries taking part.
“MOBOTIX really thought of everything when it designed this 360 degree camera,” stated Stephen Hall, president and CEO of BSI. “From installation, user operation, online access to images and stored video and even two-way audio, this product sets the new standard for video surveillance in a retail store environment. It renders traditional systems like four cameras, multiplexor and DVR’s not only irrelevant, but is a fraction of the cost, allowing loss prevention specialists a new and affordable tool that they won’t want to be without.”
Retailers will be able to install this discreet camera (which looks like a motion or smoke detector) using only computer network cable (no coaxial cable required) and can power all cameras over this cable network (POE or Power Over Ethernet). The camera has no moving parts, has industrial ratings for long life, and virtually everything on board for instant installation and operation. There is no special software to be loaded and no large servers for data storage requirements. A 32 GB MicroSD card means no need for a DVR. Images or recordings can be downloaded, if necessary, to any standard hard drive or NAS device via the network. The 3.1 Megapixel color sensor can transfer images at up to 30 frames per second and work in all lighting conditions. Its on-board recording can be set to record continuously, with chosen frame rate for more storage and can be event driven from motion, zone or alarm input.
“Can you imagine how a tool like this will help a regional loss prevention specialist?” Brotherhood commented. “The ability to install these hemispheric cameras, use software to change views, independently zoom in on selected areas and program event monitoring is the perfect solution to monitoring a store. When I called up an installation on my iPhone over a 3G network and saw a crisp and detailed live image, I was amazed. A regional LP manager could have all of their stores and cameras bookmarked on their laptop, desktop or iPhone and be able to go online, jump in and be in touch with events at any given time.”
BSI is launching this new product at the upcoming NRF Loss Prevention Conference and Expo to be held June 15-17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It will be demonstrating both local and remote monitoring at the Best Security Industries booth #522. In addition, it will also be featured at the NRF’s LP Secure Store, an interactive display of some of today’s newest and unique tools for loss prevention professionals. BSI will also be featuring a drawing for registered retail loss prevention attendees of the show for a free BSI-Q24IP camera and installation.
