Bluebeam Software Announces 508 Compliance for PDF Editing Solutions
Bluebeam’s Accessibility Features Help Disabled Individuals Edit, Markup and Create PDF files
PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bluebeam Software, a leader in innovative PDF solutions, announced today that its professional PDF editor, Bluebeam PDF Revu, is now Section 508 compliant.
“Bluebeam PDF Revu was engineered to be easy to use and conform to the way our customers work. It’s because of this flexibility that we meet the required standards to achieve 508 compliance”
Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act of 1973 outlines standards for providing solutions which are accessible to individuals with disabilities. As an accessible PDF editor, Bluebeam is better equipped to help those with vision impairments, hearing impairments and motor-related disabilities create, edit and markup PDFs. For example, users with vision impairments can select various zoom, color and contrast modes, making it easier to see PDF documents and the application interface. Bluebeam is also compatible with assistive text-to-speech technology that reads the contents of a PDF aloud.
Federal agencies are required to use programs that meet Section 508 guidelines like Bluebeam PDF Revu to ensure that information and electronic technology can be accessed by employees with disabilities. “Bluebeam PDF Revu was engineered to be easy to use and conform to the way our customers work. It’s because of this flexibility that we meet the required standards to achieve 508 compliance,” said Don Jacob, VP of Engineering for Bluebeam Software, Inc. “We are proud that all users have equal access to our PDF markup and editing solutions as well as Bluebeam’s exemplary support services.”
